Hayden Hawkey

I was introduced to Beck Bode through a good friend, my old hockey coach, Andy Martone. I grew up playing hockey with his sons, and we’ve stayed in touch throughout the years. Hockey continues to be the central to my life.

After graduating from college with a degree in finance, I played professionally in the minor leagues in the United States for three years, followed by three years in Italy. I’ve since moved back to the US and now work full time at Beck Bode.

I joined Beck Bode in the fall of 2023 because I’ve always known that finances are important, and that hockey wouldn’t last forever. I wanted to learn how to manage my money, which snowballed into wanting to help others as well. I know plenty of former athletes who struggled financially after retirement, as well as those who found success but didn’t quite know how to handle it. I’m passionate about helping people who have financial questions, especially fellow athletes who want to ensure their hard work in hockey pays off beyond their playing years.

At Beck Bode, I’ve transitioned from playing hockey professionally to working full time as a Client Associate. I handle service-related tasks for client accounts—whether it’s opening or closing accounts, moving money, or other client needs. It’s a great way to learn how an investment firm functions on a day-to-day basis, and I look forward to continuing to grow in the field with the goal of becoming an advisor. I’ll be rotating through various departments to gain a well-rounded experience in all aspects of the firm. 

When I graduated from college, Andy gave me the book Dancing with the Analysts, which is pretty much required reading around here. I was starting my pro hockey journey at the time, so the book ended up in a box in storage. Years later, I found it and read it—again and again. What I love about it is that it explains the methodology behind Beck Bode’s investment strategies in a way that’s clear, structured and easy to understand.

I appreciate the community aspect of working here. I’m used to being part of a team, and it’s great to belong to the Beck Bode team. Not only do we do our jobs together, but we also get to interact in a friendly social setting, which I really enjoy.
