About Jack

I guess you could say financial services is in my DNA. My dad spent his whole career in the industry—he started out selling trusts and wore many hats over the years. One of my sisters was a financial advisor, too, so ‘the business’ was always around me growing up. I've always been fascinated by how money can be both incredibly empowering and, at times, debilitating—and how we support people through that.

But I didn’t go straight into finance. I started out at Boston University as a mechanical engineering major because I loved building things and figuring out how systems work. I was one of those kids who watched Apollo 13 and thought, “I want to be the person who solves that square-peg-round-hole problem.” Turns out I liked the story of the problem more than the theoretical math behind it! Once I’d come to that realization, I pivoted into communications and advertising, and from there, found my way into marketing in financial services—where the stories are harder but more meaningful to tell.
While still in school, I landed a full-time role at Putnam Investments, a national mutual fund provider. I learned a lot there, working with portfolio managers and advisors. Later, I also helped launch an ETF program. After that, I joined a startup advisor tech company as the first marketing hire. I built the brand and marketing strategy from the ground up and helped grow the business during an important stage of its evolution. It was a crash course in startup life, working alongside visionary founders and stepping into every role imaginable.
Now I’m at Beck Bode, and ready for the next adventure to begin. Of course, just like everyone who is being introduced to the firm, I was given the book, Dancing with the Analysts.  Even though I have always worked in equities, it wasn’t until reading this book that I realized, “Oh man, I can see how this can be applied to everyone; I could invest this way too, in my own life!”

As I researched the firm, I was drawn to Jim and Ben’s story, their energy, and especially their emphasis on family—that really resonated with me. Outside of work, my world revolves around my wife and our two young kids. Being at a firm where the value of family is shared and lived out in the culture means a lot.
I take pride in the fact that even if I didn’t end up becoming an engineer, I still bring that same builder’s mindset into my work—whether it’s crafting a story, launching a new product, or figuring out how to connect with clients in a more human way. I’m looking forward to putting my experience to work at Beck Bode.
